Welcome to Willow and the Widow. Thank you for being part of this adventure with me. If you have not read my about page, you can find it here. After the devastating loss of my husband, I am on a journey of healing, grieving and self discovery.
Who is Willow?
Willow is my Winnebago Travato 59G. An upcoming post will go into greater detail on why I chose this model. Since there is a large W on the front of the van (see pic below), I figured she needed a name that started with the letter W. Also, the meaning of the name Willow was perfect. By definition Willow is graceful, elegant, flexible, can withstand harsh environments and adjust no matter where they are planted. These sentiments seemed to fit my journey perfectly.
What is the plan?
Traveling in the RV, being on a roadtrip was always the “happy place” for my husband and I. The plan is to experience new destinations taken from our “gonna go there someday” list and revisit places we went together. It will give me time to process my feelings, emotions and new reality. I also have a mission to fundraise and bring awareness to brain cancer research. My goal is to participate in a 5K for DIPG or Brain cancer in every state. This mission will keep me motivated and give me purpose on the road.
So you want to be a blogger?
I have no idea how to be a blogger. All I know is that I want to share my journey. My intention with this platform is to document my experiences, so I can look back and remember or maybe see how far I’ve come. Also, if this helps or enlightens someone on a similar path or circumstance, then it’s worth it. Ultimately, this blog will be my therapy, a way for me to process my situation through sharing the experiences with you.
What is this blog about?
I have so many plans for this blog. It may take some time for them all to come to fruition, but that’s the beauty of this therapeutic process. Most importantly, I will have a fundraising page and be marking off my states list as I finish the 5K’s. I also want to share information on where I stay, destinations I visit and of course the vanlife experience. I will be filling you in on how I navigate life in this Winnebago Travato!
